So glad i was able to try a new taco spot. I got the trippy fries and the birria ramen for my partner. He said he'd get the ramen again and that it reminded him of chili from Kentucky.
There were lots of fries for $15. I'll try it again :).Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Feb 16, 2024
I visited the other evening and it was a bit hard for me to find. Luckily there were a few flags that said "TACOS" and other items to let me know where to turn. Parking is available around the shopping center. The store has 2 tables with 2 chairs each, and a bar-like table area with more seats. So seating is limited, I was ready to take my stuff to go but luckily another patron finished their meal and a table was available.
The staff were friendly and the food came out pretty quick! I got the al pastor mulita, a steak burrito, a horchata, and a tamerindo. I've never had a militia before, and it's basically like a mini quesadilla. It was cheesy, gooey, and had the right amount of protein in it. I typically only get cheese quesadillas, but dang was this amazing with the al pastor. On top of that, the burrito was so good! I felt like the steak was cooked so well, that it basically melted in my mouth. My first bite, I was puzzled because I couldn't feel the steak but tasted it. So in my next bite, I made sure there was steak in it before I took the bite, and the same thing happened. There was no tough chewy texture when you get overcooked steak. AND the burrito was hefty with all the filling evenly dispersed, so there was not a single bite of just rice or cream or cheese. The horchata is good and was nice to have as a nice refreshing drink along all the dairy. It was also my first time having a tamarindo, which tasted kind of like a tamarind lemonade. It wasn't for me, but maybe for someone else.
I definitely need to come back to try other items when I'm in the area!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Maggie P.Washington, DC3612868Feb 3, 2024
Nasty. Pretty much feel robbed. I'd relish the opportunity to have the owner try this food and tell me what they thought of the quality and taste.
Waited 30 minutes for stale chips literally doused in sour cream and some weird pink sauce. Like 7,000 pickled jalapenos piled in the corner and maybe an 1/8th cup of very strange looking chicken.
I've never ever ever just trashed food I've paid good money for. But I took 1 look at these nachos, tried 1 bite against my better judgement, and took the whole rest of the container out to dump in the chicken coop where it belonged. 0s, absolutely do not recommend. Ever.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Feb 1, 2024
I had recently stopped by Trippy Tacos to grab a quick lunch, and it didn't disappoint!
Their menu is pretty extensive, offering items such as tacos, burritos, quesadillas, tortas, birria, nachos, fries, pupusas, mulitas, and various sides, along with rotating/featured specials.
I ordered a cheese pupusa and a medium-sized horchata (they also have a large size, too) - usually, I like my pupusas a bit more crispy and more on the 'greasier' end, but Trippy Tacos' version was pretty tasty - sure, it could have been crispier, but I felt like it was one of the 'healthier' versions of a pupusa; the filling, however, was generously stuffed with cheese, and while stuffing my face, I was trying to figure out how they were able to do this!
The horchata was more on the thinner consistency, but it was still tasty and refreshing.
Service here is super kind, friendly, and welcoming - the staff are very sweet!
I really liked how small and intimate this place was - it was well-decorated, and there were a couple of tables and stools at the counter.
Another plus was that there was a sink by the entrance where you can wash your hands before- and after your meal - so convenient!
I'd love to check out their highly-rated nachos, the pupusa pizza, and their Taco Tuesday specials.
Plenty of parking in the lot.
+cheesy pupusas!

Great find! Not only good Mexican food but excellent Peruvian food as well. I got to interact with the two ladies in the kitchen, and they were kind and professional. I saw them cooking things from scratch, and you can taste it.
The lomo saltado had lots of sauce, fresh veggies, and that char flavor you get from the flame when you stir fry. The ceviche was also of outstanding quality.
We look forward to returning and trying more items. I'm hoping they have more agua fresca flavors if others taste like the horchata and tamarindo.. boy oh boy, I'm in trouble!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 1, 2024
I wish this place was closer to me because I really loved their Lengua tacos!
[Food: 4 of 5]
Lengua Tacos- 5 of 5.. I mean.. Lengua tacos are my all time favorite tacos. These meat pieces were bigger than what you would typically get at *generic taco shop* - and they were soo juicy. I ordered 2 tacos that came out to a little over $7, to me, that's definitely worth it.
Al Pastor Tacos - 1 of 5 - I really did not enjoy this taco at all. And..that's all I'll say about that.
Carne Asada con queso - 5 of 5- I have never had flour tortilla tacos served with cheese! I honestly was taken aback when they asked if I wanted this with cheese or not. Eaten fresh, it's super toasty with the cheese melting and oozing. Even when we let the taco sit there for awhile and cheese had hardened, it still tasted so good.
Pupusas con friojles y queso- 5 of 5 - The pupusas was nice and hot- The pupusa was over filled with beans (not that I'm complaining) - I wish the sauces given were spicy or had a kick (I love spicy). The pickled vegetables for the pupusas were fresh and tangy, paired very will with thier pupusa.
Drinks:
I did not get their frescas but they offered tamarind, horchata and... one more flavor but I can't remember.
They had a large variety of sodas in their cooler, including Pepsi Zero products which I thought were awesome.
[Service: 5 of 5]
The person who helped us at the register was so friendly and helpful.
He let us know about the Taco Tuesday deals and offered ice to us with our soda since it wasn't cold.
[Ambiance: 3.5 of 5?] The place was very small, like maybe it was a mom and pop shop? It was just the kitchen and then 1 small table for 2 and a bar along the window with some stools. The place did not have a public bathroom (which kind of sucked for me, because I drove over an hour to come here and reeally needed to use it). There was no music playing when I went, so it was kind of nice just listening to the hussle and bussle of the stoves, and the chitter chatter of the guests at the restaurants.
I hope to one day venture out to this part of MD again so that I could try "the best nachos in MD" and to get some more lengua tacos!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 30, 2024

Trippy tacos! First off, I want to acknowledge that the menu here is pretty impressive! This place has a lot of authentic menu items that I hope to try again in the future.
-Customer Service:
Chris was excellent! Though when I initially called to place my order, one of the staff members had no idea about the Yelp experience that was occurring for the free cup of birria ramen. Staff not being on the same page is not a good look, nevertheless they were able to take my order and make it happen. Along with the birria ramen, I ordered one chicken tamale and chips & guac.
Restaurant/Ambiance;
The restaurant is extremely small and tiny, not somewhere that you would want to eat inside of. It is better to grab food to go. Though the outside has a very cool look & it captures the eye when you are driving by.
Now onward to the main attraction, the food!
Overall Thoughts on Food:
The birria ramen was okay! The flavor was honestly lacking. They could have doctored it up a bit more with some authentic seasoning,
spices + heat! The noodles were also chopped, and the noodle to consume ratio was way off! A little bit of noodles, and lots of broth! A staple of eating ramen is being able to slurp the noodles, as this makes eating the dish filling and wholesome. This missed touch made the dish lack. The meat was cooked well and I liked the texture of it!
The chips and guac were delicious! The guac has a nice lime essence, and the tortilla chips were honestly nice and fresh! The tamale was warming and flavorful to the bite, and I enjoyed the red and green salsas that came with it! It reminded me of tamales that I had when I lived in Arizona!
All in all, this was a nice Yelp experience. Though, I do want to be honest about areas for improvement for the Trippy Tacos staff and team.
Thank you Andrew & the Trippy Tacos Team!Helpful 2Thanks 2Love this 1Oh no 0 - 92177870Jan 27, 2024
I loved the customer service. Julissa was super friendly and patient. We ordered a bunch of things: taco al pastor, tamal, mulita de asada, torta de asada, horchata, and the trippy fries.
My favorite were the mulita and the torta. The tamal is peruvian style and it was really good too. The taco al pastor was good but it needed a little more flavor. The fries were gigantic! The horchata was delish too.
My order was togo and everything was nicely packaged, we didn't have any spills! But we realized they forgot to give us the birria ramen that we wanted to try.
They have started offering Peruvian food sandwiches we may go back to check that out soon. Definitely a come back spot!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sandro H.Germantown, MD1173Apr 4, 2024
I stopped by to get a torta al
Pastor. The meat was juicy and tasty and the bread was soft with a crunch inside from being toaster. The only thing was that the lettuce was too big for the buns, once I took a bite then the whole torta had opened up. The ladies who served me were attentive and polite. I also had the tamarindo juice. I felt it a bit bitter but tamarindos are like that, it can be a hit or miss between bittersweet.Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - 1615921413Feb 6, 2024
